Mother's Day Out
"Being a family with you is more than I could have hoped for."
Danny wrote that in the card he gave me on my first Mothers Day. I don't know if I still have that card tucked away in a box somewhere, but I do have a blog post that has details about that weekend. Along with every word Danny wrote me in that Mothers Day card. I keep wanting to make this blog a regular thing. Taking photos of my family and journaling make me so happy! I know another 7 years from now I'll love having these memories written down.
We celebrated Mothers Day again just over a week ago! Naveya came home from school that Friday with a craft she made of cupcake liner flowers and an All About Mom questionnaire. She wrote how my favorite food is Hamburger and fries, that my job is taking care of her, and that she loves me because I love her. Then I laughed when I got to the part that said, "My mom always says take a nap with me." Haha! I keep seeing t-shirts and hats that have "tired as a mother" printed on them. That quote has been very fitting for me these last few weeks. Bring on summer!
Danny and the kids made Mothers Day weekend so special for me! On Saturday, Danny told me he hadn't made any plans since he wanted me to choose everything we did that day. For our first stop of the day I chose lunch at Flower Child. I had just tried their food a couple weeks before at a girls day and had been wanting to go as a family ever since. The food is so fresh and the kids liked getting to choose fancy lemonades. Naveya got Rose Lemonade, and Dax got pomegranate-ginger. Afterwards, we went to Ruze Cake House. I had found them on Instagram back when we were in Texas and Mothers Day felt like the perfect occasion to sample a few macarons! Daxton tasted his first french macaron that day and said," Oh CRAP! That is dang good!" That kid is hilarious!
After Ruze, we just walked and it was perfect! We walked around the outside of a nearby museum and then up and down the Scottsdale Waterfront. Our little family has always loved being out and exploring. It's what I look forward to most about our family days. Spending the day walking, seeing new places and eating yummy food! Then coming home to snuggle and watch a movie. It made for the perfect Mother's Day Out! Of course after all that walking we were hungry again. So we went to Grimaldi's Pizza. I had walked past a few before and seen people eating on the patio. It always looked so good! We ordered a pepperoni and basil pizza and it was as good as it looked!! The cherry on top was seeing all the photos of New York City on the walls! Getting to have one of my favorite places play a part in my day was so fun!
We easily could have gone home content from all the delicious food we'd had that day, but as fate would have it, there was the cutest old fashioned ice cream parlor right across the street from Grimaldi's. We finished the night off with dessert at The Sugar Bowl! It was perfect! I couldn't have asked for a better gift than spending time with my loves. We ate yummy food and talked at 4 different tables, in 4 different places. We walked, listened to live music, and held hands. Danny and I watched as the kids collected rocks and picked flowers to throw at cacti to see if they would stick. Haha! It really was perfect. At the end of the day my heart felt to full it could burst. I'm so grateful to have the three of them to love. My heart has felt especially heavy recently with the emotional challenges of being a mom. Daxton is getting so close to being in Kindergarten. Life is changing and I feel like its the end of an era. To have a day to focus on this beautiful family I'm blessed to have made my heart happy. There is nothing else I'd rather be doing, and nowhere else I'd rather be than here with my family.
Flower Child's patio! I love having places like this right in my backyard!

Naveya and Daxton, I hope you know, being your mom is the best thing I've ever had the blessing of being able to do.
