FAMILY TIME IN NYC: PART 2

Of all the many cell phone pictures we took while we were in the city, this squinty one might be the only photo we took of all 4 of us! Ha! (THIS is why we had Amanda Petersen take family pictures, which you can see HERE in Part 1 of our NYC trip! I'll have her take our family pictures 'til shes sick of us because they are just SO GOOD and worth every penny to have more pictures of our crew all together!) All I can say, is even with our lack of family selfies, I'm so glad I was born in the day of cell phone cameras where it is so easy to snap a picture of the kids at the park!! Then keep them in this blog where I know I will have them no matter what. These are the good old days you guys! I stress over it and I try my damndest to cherish it. I live for family time! It was a dream getting to spend a few days walking, climbing and eating our way through New York City together.

We got into the city late at night, and woke up for our first full day on Daxton's birthday!! Bubby's seemed like the perfect place for Daxton's birthday breakfast becuase 1. Bubby is one of Daxton's many nicknames. 2. yummy food and 3. (my personal favorite) the photobooth!! They have an old photobooth in the basement. There are tons of amazing breakfast places in the city, and that meal was the most we spent on any of our meals on the whole trip, but that photobooth somehow in my mind makes it worth it! Haha!

How is he 7 years old!? He's such a little man!

On our way to a park we got caught in the rain. Which ended up being perfect since we were close to a restaurant I'd wanted to try. We tried soup dumplings for the first time at Joe's Shanghai. The kids loved them so much we ordered more!

These two!!! How he's holding her hand, I can't deal. Love them so much!

At the turtle pond in Central Park!

Our last day in the city we met up with cousins at the Brooklyn Bridge. We lived with them in Texas and these cousins hadn't seen each other in 2 years. It was so fun watching them play together!

They found a caterpillar and named him Promp. Where that name came from I have no idea, but they were all devastated when we had to leave him at the park.

That last night we took the train from Brooklyn to the Upper West Side and got off near the Museum of Natural history on 81st and slowly made our way down stopping for Van Leeuwen ice cream and  crepes to eat on the steps in front of Lincoln center. We gave Rach, Nate and the kids hugs and then the 4 of us stayed a little longer to soak in our last night in New York City. A few years ago we made a "city jar" to collect loose change toward a family trip to the city one day. Even though I totally forgot to cash it in this trip, it's still fun to think of how long we've been looking forward to being in New York City together and there we were!! So dang grateful for these days and our adventures together! They are the very best!
