TEN YEARS!

This time tomorrow morning we'll be on a plane to St Louis! What I crave most in this life, maybe even more than donuts, is getting to explore. Cities in particular. I mean, I also have a serious love for the beach and would love to sink my feet in the sand as often as possible. Let me tell you though, while going to the beach is my childhood and a breath of fresh air, there's nothing that makes me feel more alive than walking down the sidewalk in a busy city. I love it. You know that quote about soul mates? Something like "whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same." That's me and New York City! I can't even tell you how excited I am to be back in the city and in St Louis with my loves!!

Before we leave on our trip I wanted to write down a few memories of our anniversary in the city last March. We didn't have a big agenda planned. All we wanted was to just be there together. We slept in. Well at least as much as I could. Haha! I would wake up before Danny and just stare out the window of the apartment we stayed in. The view was incredible! (I'll post a video below) The first morning we were there we went to Top of the Rock to meet up with Amanda Petersen who took these photos!! We did take some videos on the trip, but we both knew we wanted to just focus on being in the moment. So the pictures Amanda took are pretty much the only ones we have of the trip which is perfect! So dreamy and we just got to focus on being together!

After going to Top of the Rock the rest of the trip could be summed up by saying eat, play, sleep, repeat! Ha! We would look up some food that sounded good and then wander the neighborhood. Which took us to Lincoln Center, China town, and pier 25. Danny told Dax that if it snowed he would throw a snowball at me. Just as we were getting to Pier 25 it started to flurry. It wasn't enough for a snowball fight, but as we got to the pier there was some snow from the weekend before still there that he was happy to chuck at me! haha! Those moments of wandering or ordering food in and watching The Office are my favorites of the trip!

One day as we were walking around the Upper West Side I got teary eyed. I've loved the city since the first time we went back in 2011. It became even more special as I was going through a hard time a couple years ago. I wrote more about it in a post here. The city is my happy place and I would envision moving there. My kids go to a dual language school where they learn in spanish and english. So when I found this dual immersion school on the Upper West Side which I already loved, I kinda attached myself to that part of the city. Being there was such a full circle heart could burst moment.

Probably the most memorable night of the trip was when we decided to go see Wicked. Neither of us had seen it before and the theater was near our airbnb in Hells Kitchen. So after walking past it for a couple of days we decided to go. Wicked was fun, but what is memorable about that night was how excited I felt to be with Danny. One of those times when you are so comfortable with someone and you know them so well, but everything feels new. I remember sitting in the theater holding his hand, excited to go to dinner with him and then back to the apartment. We left Wicked and wandered for at least an hour stopping to look at menus in restaurant windows before ending up at Georgio's Country Grill on 53rd and 9th. It just felt so good to be with him and take our time. Knowing we got to be just the two of us at the end of the night, no kids to get to bed, was just what we needed. We've been married for ten years! Ten crazy years. Filled with so many heart making and breaking memories. I couldn't dream of a better way to celebrate 10 years of marriage than the way we did in the city. Can't wait for this next week to make so many more as the 4 of us!!!
