Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art
This weekends adventures started with going to a new museum! Well, it's 20 years old, but a new-to-us-museum anyways. If you're local here in Phoenix I HIGHLY recommend checking out "culture passes" at any of the Phoenix libraries! Art museums are one of our go-to family activities. Especially in the summer when we like to be out of the house most of the day but it's 115 degrees outside. Every museum we've gone to here in the valley we've been able to go to for FREE using culture passes from the library. Each Phoenix Library has free tickets to places from museums, to the botanical garden, and the ballet. You check out tickets just like you would a book and you're good to go! Our favorite is the Phoenix Art Museum!! (I wrote a post about the PHX Art Museum HERE)
This contemporary art museum is pretty small, so it would be perfect for a day you want a quick 45 min activity before wandering out to ALL the amazing food in old town Scottsdale. The kids had so much fun with the interactive light exhibit! They also did some crafts in the kids zone, found all the birds on their birdwatching scavenger hunt, and played in the garden. When we were on our way over there I asked the kids to tell Danny and I how we should behave in the museum. Ha! After a list of "Don'ts" they told us a few "Do's". Navy told us to stop and say, "I noticed..., I think..., I wonder..." She learned that at school and I LOVE it!!! Definitely going to keep that in mind when we go to our next museum.
