New School Year and a New Apartment
We made it!! We packed lunches, signed syllabuses (syllabi?), and completed the first homework assignments of the year! The first week back to school is in the books. It's been nice to be back on our school routine. When Navy and I were in New York, the apartment we stayed in flooded with light waking me up around 6am, which is 3am Phoenix time. When we came home I decided I would stay on an earlier schedule, so these last couple weeks I've woken up at 4:30 every morning! Seeing that typed out, 4:30 sounds SO early! Haha! I have to say I've been pretty proud of myself starting an earlier routine, and it's been SO NICE having more time in the morning to focus on things I want/need to do before getting the kids up and everybody out the door. Now I just need to pin down the whole going to bed earlier routine!
Last weekend we went to Tempe town lake. I love exploring different areas of the valley! It feels like we're in a completely different place without having to travel far. Danny taught the kids how to skip rocks, and we stopped by Tempe Center for the Arts right there on the water. It was only for a bathroom break, so we didn't see a show or anything, but the Miss Native American USA Pageant had just ended and oh my gosh the dresses and crowns the girls were wearing were so beautiful!!! It was so cool seeing multiple generations there from young girls, young women, to their mothers and grandmothers standing together taking photos in these amazing traditional dresses!
This past week Danny got to sneak in a dessert date and an apartment hunting date! We move in 2 weeks and finally pinned down an apartment!! Woohoo! We decided to move into a 1 bedroom flat at our same apartment complex! That will make our move easier, cost less, and still helps us in our goals to minimize and put more of our money towards other things that matter to us! Our new apartment also obviously keeps us here in our neighborhood which I love AND we will have a FULL-SIZE WASHER AND DRYER!! This is big! When we moved into our current apartment we went from having to walk to a separate building to a shared laundry, to having a small stacked washer and dryer! Now we'll have full size and I can wash more than 1 towel at a time! Haha! Oh, the simple joys! I'm relieved we have our new apartment locked down. Now its time for the fun part of actually moving.
I'm finishing this post later than I'd like, but here it is! These past two weeks have been so busy, and I've had alot on my mind (sugar-coated way of saying I've been really stressed.) When I first sat down to write this as I typically do at the end of the week, I didn't feel in the mood to write about all the happy stuff going on. It just wasn't matching my vibe. I mean, I was still very happy, but also mix in stronger doses of stress and exhaustion (maybe even a little PMS) and BAM you have last week Brianne! Haha! So glad I came back to this when my mood was matching how I felt when we were on our adventures. I love having these memories saved here on the blog!
This next week I'm looking forward to celebrating Naveya's birthday!! She turned 10 yesterday!!! Gosh, I love that girl! I'm also looking forward to getting a solid amount of packing and a trip or two to goodwill done this weekend 'cause our little big move is the next big event around here! So many exciting things to come!
