Our City Jar
Pictures of Central Park and all it's fall-leaf-changing-gorgeousness are all over Instagram. I follow a few bloggers with young families from the city and it makes me so excited to get to spend next summer there with my little family! (More details in my post about our Summer in the City)
The whole family is so excited for next summer! Danny and I really want to involve the kids in planning and preparing for our summer in New York. With this being a big family vacation, we felt like it was the perfect opportunity to teach the kids about saving money. So we created a change (aka city) jar. It's mainly for loose change we have, then if Naveya and Daxton have any of their own money they want to add to the jar, they can. Danny and I are saving for the trip outside of our City Jar, of course, but this has been a fun way to get the kids involved! Naveya even wants to have a bake sale to add more to the jar!
I counted today and we are up to thirty dollars and thirteen cents! Even though this jar will only be a small percent of what we save towards next summer, I can already tell it's such a big part of this whole thing and the memories we're making! Like the day Daxton kept miraculously finding change in the house all day. For me to find out later that he had taken change out of the jar, and brought it to me all excited so we could put it right back in together!
So much of my daydreams right now revolve around this trip. Spending a month long vacation, in one of my favorite places, with my absolute favorite people! I know it's going to take every last penny we can save, and it's a million times worth it.
