Summer in the City

Danny, Naveya and I went to went New York City for the first time in 2011. I was pregnant with Daxton at the time. It was late spring, and perfect! I didn't know much about the city before that trip other than the touristy stuff. I almost hate to say it, but I didn't have very high expectations. I figured it would just be a fun place to go once and check off the bucket list. Then I got there and fell in love!! Ever since that trip I have dreamed to go back and stay for a month with my little family! [Then eventually move there for a year+......but again, that's another NYC post for another day!]

Five years later, this past March, I had the amazing chance to spend a quick couple days in the City with my sister Rachael! The first night we were there we grabbed dinner at Timmy's just downstairs from our apartment and went on a walk along the East River. I cried. Seriously, I have been so obsessed with New York City ever since that trip 5 years ago, I was almost nervous going back. I wasn't sure how I would feel being back in the actual city VS this idea in my head of what the city was to me. Being back there was even better than I had imagined! If anything, it made me even hungrier to be there with my family. When I walked through central park and stopped at bakery's I could picture the 4 of us there! Waking up and making breakfast in a cozy Upper East side apartment I could picture my family there!

When I set our summer in the city-goal a few years ago it was more like a dream. Something we'd get to do someday. After my trip this year I decided to set a date!!

We're going to finally be back in the city together NEXT SUMMER!!! For an entire month of quality family time! Being in New York City, there is this energy that I'm crazy inspired by. I still don't know 100% how we're going to make it happen. Being there I just knew I could figure it out. I feel extremely called to that place! I can't wait to be there with my family!! Especially knowing how excited we all are as a family to be there!! More to come on how we are getting the whole family involved in making this dream come true together!!
